So great to see branches using the special offer which came for all branches from the Wensleydale Creamery:
Members of the Boroughbridge Branch of the Y C A took advantage of the Wensleydale Creamery offer which came from York H Q a few weeks ago.
On a beautiful sunny Autumn day which showed off the hills and the valley of the River Ure to its best five teen members boarded the local Boroughbridge community bus and enjoyed a drive up the dales to Hawes the home of the Wensleydale Creamery.
It can certainly be recommended for a visit Members enjoyed a very interesting talk about the history of cheese making in the dales, followed by a demonstration of cheesemaking.
Members could then explore the world of Wallace and Gromit and a cheese tasting session before going through to the viewing gallery to see the cheese been processed in the huge vats before going on to be packed.
A fine lunch and a look round the shop completed the day. Wensleydale certainly has a lot to offer if combining a visit to the creamery with a stop off along the way at Leyburn, Bolton Castle, Jervaulx Abbey or the town of Hawes itself with its rope works and Dales Museum.
Thanks to Eileen and Doreen for organising.
